Job Description

Brooklyn Heights Montessori School (BHMS) is currently seeking to fill two positions for the following roles for academic year '24-'25:

• Afterschool Teacher (15hrs/wk)

The Afterschool Teachers will work between 2:45pm-6pm, Monday through Friday. They will monitor and care for large groups of students between preschool and grade 6. They will prepare materials and activities that are interesting and age-appropriate; provide tutoring for homework; mediate any conflicts between students; report any concerns to the Coordinator; and provide a safe and fun environment for the children. Total number of hours per week is 15 hours and the compensation is $23/h. Additional hours may occasionally be available to cover childcare for various events and needs.

Requirements:

• Extensive experience (3+ years) working with groups of children in a professional setting
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Knowledge or training in Montessori is a major plus!
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
• Strong work ethic and clear, timely communication skills
• Ability to accommodate last-minute changes and stressful situations calmly
