We are seeking an experienced and passionate Editing Instructor to join our dynamic faculty for the Summer 2024 semester. As part of our team, you'll play a key role in shaping the next generation of filmmakers while fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
About the Role
As an Editing Instructor, you will guide students through the technical and creative aspects of film editing, primarily using Adobe Premiere. Your focus will be to help students hone their skills and develop their own voice as editors. You'll collaborate with the Dean to design and implement engaging curricula, provide personalized feedback, and mentor students through their projects. This position requires a commitment of at least 6 hours of teaching per week during the 15-week semester.
While teaching experience is a plus, it's not required. We are looking for a strong professional background in film editing, a passion for teaching, and a desire to nurture the next generation of filmmakers.
Key Responsibilities
Work with the Dean to develop tailored curricula for each class.
Engage students in the learning process and create a stimulating environment for creative and technical growth.
Foster a supportive, motivating atmosphere that encourages students to produce their best work.
Be prompt and professional in meeting all teaching responsibilities.
Participate in bi-monthly faculty meetings and collaborate with fellow faculty members.
Coordinate with school administration regarding student attendance and grading.
Provide personalized guidance through one-on-one student meetings.
Create and refine course syllabi to ensure they align with student needs and project-driven learning outcomes.
Work closely with teaching assistants to support student learning and progress.
Qualifications
Minimum of five years of professional experience in film editing.
Bachelor's degree in film or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Expertise in Adobe Premiere (Adobe Certified Instructor is a plus).
Experience working with both HD and 4K footage in professional workflows.
In-depth knowledge of editing techniques and best practices.
While teaching experience is preferred, it is not required.
Comfort with remote teaching and online course delivery.
