The Position
The Senior Landscape Architect will plan, supervise, and review the work of City Landscape Architect staff. The incumbent will: coordinate and oversee various landscape projects; perform professional landscape architect work in conjunction with the design and preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for the development and rehabilitation of parks, landscaped areas and street beautification projects; inspect and review the work of developers and consultants for conformance with plans, specifications, and City requirements; prepare and administer grants and give professional advice on landscape matters.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Park Planning, Horticulture, or closely related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in landscape architecture, park planning, or park management.
Licenses/Certificates/Special Requirements
Possession of a valid Landscape Architect license issued by the State of California is required. This position requires the ability to travel independently to fulfill the assigned duties and responsibilities, therefore a valid Class C California Driver’s License is required at time of appointment.

The City is searching for a highly organized and effective team player who is able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment. The successful candidate will possess mastery of the principles and practices of landscape architecture and urban design, and have the ability to plan, supervise, review and evaluate the work of City and contract staff. In addition, the incumbent must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
