Student Engagement Coordinator
Campus Activities Office

Description

Gustavus Adolphus College is hiring two Student Engagement Coordinators. One Student Engagement Coordinators primary responsibility will be advising Greek Life. The second Student Engagement Coordinators primary responsibility will be advising the Campus Activities Board. These roles will contribute directly to the office's mission to promote student learning and development through opportunities that contribute to student engagement and build community through service, involvement, events, and leadership.

Employment Type: Full-time (.88 FTE), Benefits-Eligible, Exempt (Salaried)

Salary Range: $40,000-$45,000/year

Student Engagement Coordinator (Role 1)

JOB SUMMARY: This position directly oversees the Campus Activities Board and the implementation of campus wide events. This position serves on the Campus Activities Office team and provides opportunities for students to engage in programs, events, and leadership roles.

*Please note that there are two position openings and that based on skills and experience, additional areas of responsibility will be assigned and included in a final position description. The areas to be assigned are: oversight of recreational programming and experiential learning opportunities, management and advising of all recognized student organizations, supervision of the 'Gus the Mascot' program, and coordination and implementation of Family Weekend.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advise the Campus Activities Board and provide direction, leadership, oversight, and program development.
  • Provide oversight and management of the annual student fee Campus Activities Board allocation.
  • Organize Homecoming with the Campus Activities Board and collaborate with other campus constituents.
  • Develop and implement robust marketing of program offerings.
  • Oversee risk management policies and procedures related to campus activities.
    • Advise student leaders in identifying and addressing areas of risk and liability.
  • Assess student events and identify new efforts based on annual learning outcomes and student feedback.
  • Conduct and utilize regular assessments of services to measure usage, effectiveness, satisfaction, and student learning outcomes for continuous improvement
  • Benchmark current practices and remain current with industry trends via professional development opportunities.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that is welcoming of all members of the campus community through programs, events, and outreach.
  • Share responsibilities for campus-wide committee involvement and weekend/evening programming support.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Student Engagement Coordinator (Role 2)



JOB SUMMARY: This position directly oversees Greek Life and advises the Inter-Greek Council governing board and 7 Greek chapters. This position serves on the Campus Activities Office team and provides opportunities for students to engage in programs, events, and leadership roles.

The areas to be assigned are: oversight of recreational programming and experiential learning opportunities, management and advising of all recognized student organizations, supervision of the 'Gus the Mascot' program, and coordination and implementation of Family Weekend.



MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advise the Inter-Greek Council, Panhellenic Council, Inter-Greek Senate and all aspects of Fraternity and Sorority Life.
  • Serve as the primary advisor to seven local and national fraternity and sorority chapters.
  • Guide recruitment efforts, new member education, risk management, and chapter operations.
  • Develop and implement robust marketing of program offerings.
  • Oversee risk management policies and procedures within Greek Life.
    • Advise student leaders in identifying and addressing areas of risk and liability.
  • Assess Fraternity and Sorority life and identify new efforts based on annual learning outcomes and student feedback.
  • Conduct and utilize regular assessment of services to measure usage, effectiveness, satisfaction, and student learning outcomes/development for continuous improvement.

Prerequisites



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to provide advising and leadership support to students
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Possess self-initiative and the ability to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and other campus stakeholders
  • Required to work evenings/weekends, as needed


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education or relevant field
  • Experience advising Programming Boards
  • A mature understanding of issues and trends in higher education
  • Demonstrated familiarity with liberal arts education within a residential setting
  • Demonstrated success in working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences
